The terrible ice storm Jan - Feb 2009 -- We lost power and water for 10 days.

3 days of crashing trees all around us and everywhere in the woods.

The house is ok, but we don't know how we will clean up all the trees as they are broke way up in the tops.

The tops of our 4 large trees are gone.

All the large cedars broke bad.

Every single twig, blade of grass and wire was covered like this.  Our pastures looked like fat glass grass.  I have never seen anything like this.

There are huge branches just stuck up in the tree tops.

Back of house

All the wild birds stayed with the chickens in the hen house.  It was full of birds.  They had food and water in there and actually was pretty smart of them to go in there.

We had to get out the outdoor wood cook stove to melt ice for water for all the stock.  By morning, the stock tanks were half froze again, and we had to start over.  We even got the ice off the metal roofs to melt for water.  It started to melt and drip several days later and we caught the water coming off the roofs.  When that ran out, we had to go to the bottom of the hill and haul water from the neighbor.

Ice starting to melt and fall like bullets, branches falling
